Hi,
I have a macbook. At work I use the LCD monitor, as well as an external monitor (ahh screen spanning!). Anyway.. I like to run the external monitor at a high resolution (1280x960). Normally, I don't shut my MacBook down, just put it to sleep... so at the end of the day I perform the following steps:

While the system is still awake:
* Unplug speakers/usb keyboard and mouse/power/external display.
* Wait for the system to flash and get itself oriented to the lack of display
* Go to sleep

Often I will revive the MacBook at home to use it in the evening

Next day I do the following:
* Wake MacBook up
* Wait for system to become cognent
* Plug everything back in.

At this point the second monitor comes on and works but is in (1024x768).

I've noticed if I shut the MacBook down... (rather then sleeping) it seems to be ok... what on earth? Can anyone assist?:confused:

It's been this way since day 1.
DU - yeah I just ran a check (both checks) the other day.
PREF - yes it is set the way I like.

Have you run disk utility in a while?
In system preference do you have your external monitor set the way you like it?

Bless
