hope this is the right place for this question!

currently running :
Mac Mini 2018
Big Sur
which I know allows up to three monitors / displays
currently have
1. one monitor in HDMI port
2. second monitor out of USBC port

3. for the third monitor I use a USBC port, but I alternate between two displays:
a - sometimes I have a VGA monitor attached to USBC port via an adaptor cable
b - but I sometimes switch it out into a projector, attached via USBC to HDMI adaptor cable

my question - re the alternating third monitor, is it possible to get a switching box of some kind?
ideally it would be a box with one USBC input that could switch between two USBC outputs
but I would be open for something else, with a possible different combination of adaptors and outputs.

open for suggestions!

thanks for any input and Happy New Year.

W

Hdmi switches definitely exist, and can be very small and require no extra power. Combine with a hdmi to vga adapater for the old display, and you should be good.

hmmm, so do the "switching" in the HDMI realm? that does make sense! Alright, let me ponder! thank you!

PS: Looking at this - small and cheap, requires no external power - what do you think?

It’s only 30hz apparently. Maybe it’s not an issue, but I’d try to find one that’s 60.
thank you again.

I actually bought this HDMI SPLITTER (as opposed to SWITCH) a few months ago. Do you think this would work? (I don't necessarily need to output to both displays at once, so I plan just to turn one off while I am using the other one.)
