Good day,
thanks, first of all, to admin to accept me in the forum.
I am owner of a macbook pro 15" middle 2017 with touch bar and some day ago, at once, my display, depending on how much in degrees I opened the screen, showed 6 vertical violet lines about 1 sixth large.
At low angles the display works, when I open it in work position, it doesn't and shows the lines.

Now, Apple told me that the only way to fix it is to substitute the whole display for about 870 €, but I am wondering if it could be something simpler to fix, in terms of spare parts and of money.

I saw that there are some flat cables that could be the problem and that cost much less than the money Apple asked, anyone had same issue and had found a better solution than the one proposed by Apple?

I attach a couple of pic to explain the nature of the problem.
Many thanks to anyone for attention.

everymac.com says your MacBook Pro 15 inch mid 2017 is an A1707
https://everymac.com/systems/apple/...-mid-2017-retina-display-touch-bar-specs.html

Then I do a search in the YouTube channel of Mac laptop repair person, Louis Rossmann
https://www.youtube.com/user/rossmanngroup/search?query=A1707

He has at least one video on the problem:

He explain's that there's no easy solution except to replace the screen. That was like more than 2 years ago. I don't know if that's changed.

Googling for 2017 mac display problem flexgate finds some newer videos and posts. One from ifixit.com. Searching for flexgate at ifixit.com finds that more than the 2017 MacBook Pro may be affected.

Your problem looks to be slightly different than the backlight issues described in most of those posts so maybe it's a different cable?
