Using my skills as a Google PhD, I have searched for any late breaking information on the HDMI adaptor I purchased for my MacBook Pro (mid-2012, non-retina). VGA adaptor for my Scepter 1080p 32" works just fine through that adaptor but sometimes chokes on Netflix for some reason. The HDMI? I can't seem to get a decent DPI and that's pretty frustrating. My office (work) computer goes directly to HDMI crisply and with perfect resolution.

Has there been any fixes in this? The only information I've ever seen is that people suspect it is a software thing within the Mac Display Drivers, (color scheme, i think??) that doesn't allow it to work properly.

Is there any benefit to trying/caring? Or just stick with VGA?
(why do I put myself through this, just buy a new machine, I get it.... but $$$)

Also-- when I buy my dream machine next year (around this time), I am planning on going with a 3rd party USB-C monitor (not offered through Apple) because there are no legit Apple monitors that won't actually require the sale of a kidney and I want to ensure I have enough processors / RAM, not interested in short-changing that for an OEM Apple device that won't be fully used because I skimped on the hardware. Question--- Good/Bad thought pattern?
