Displayport vs HDMI

Hello. Macbook pro 2016-2019 has 4 usb-c ports, which support

• Charging
• DisplayPort
• Thunderbolt (up to 40Gb/s)
• USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10Gb/s).

So, it is safe to conclude that if we connect a monitor with usb-c to displayport cable, it will run better because the connection is displayport -> displayport?
If we connect it with usb-c to hdmi cable, there is conversion displayport -> hdmi. Is this correct?

It depends how Apple has implemented it. Both HDMI and DisplayPort support USB-C connector via alt modes.

DisplayPort is the better interface though so I would recommend it over HDMI unless your screen doesn’t support it.

DisplayPort supports more bandwidth so you'll be able to support higher resolutions as well as higher refresh rates than you would over HDMI. Additionally, you'll be able to daisy chain multiple DisplayPort monitors together with a single cable if you have screens that support DisplayPort Daisy Chaining.
