Just pulled the trigger on a dell p2715Q 27in monitor. I'm wondering if I should have gone with the 24 in monitor tho to make it more "retina" like. Does anyone know how far back one would need to be viewing the 27 in 4K monitor at to have it look as crisp as the 24 in version?

1/8th farther than from what you would expect to view a 24"... 12.5%. If you sit 24" away from a 24" monitor, 27" would give the same angle of view... but that would be pretty close! I view the iMac 5K from about 33" away.

(Viewing with two eyes changes some things but for purposes of sharpness of the pixels, it's not relevant.)

Oh nice thanks DYT! Sounds like I'll be able to see "Retina" quality on the 4K 27in just as well as the 24 then

Screen size/DPI only matters in comparison to having another retina monitor for when you move items from one screen to the next. Otherwise, 27" 4K should be just fine.
