Hello everyone and thanks for reading!
I have my electric bass plugged into my MacBook Pro via a USB to 1/4" cable. Never had a problem using it until I updated the OS. It used to work great and I was able to play/record for hours. Now, after a few minutes (even if I don't play) a horrible distortion and cracking noise starts to appear and it just keeps getting worse until you have to stop. IF I unplug the cable OR update the audio settings OR close the app, the problem goes away; but the again, after a few minutes it comes back.
It used to work with Snow Leopard, and the problem started with Lion and it's still present on Mountain Lion. I've updated the OS and also have the latest versions of Garageband and Logic Pro X.
By the way, my cable is a First Act 222 USB cable that I got at Target. It worked perfectly until the latest update to Garage Band 11 was released along with Lion and ML. I strongly suspect it is not the cable, as the cable does not seem to require a driver, it's auto detected.
Cheers
