Nah... haven't had any problems, yet... except some aggravation over the iTunes says it's Showtime thread... but I think I might find something other to do the next couple of hours... I hate queueing... ;)
 
Bit of an experiment with the forums this time, hopefully they should stay up much longer and without removing anything. Avatars are not actually hosted on the main forum server at the moment, so they're fine :)

Good. I only need 25 more posts to be an official avatar owner! A feat a may very likely accomplish today :D

What happened to all other icons...?

Edit: Back for now... ;) Not seen any "Servers are busy" messages, yet... but the whole forums are running extremely slowly at the moment... :(

All the images on the forums were moved onto macrumorslive.com but one of the servers running it didn't have the forum images in the right place. I fixed it not long after your post, but you probably had already moved onto another server in the round robin which had the images.

The forums being slow was a bit of a trade off - we could either have it quick but with the busy messages, or slow with no messages. I'm going to be looking at a way to have the best of both worlds for next time :)

Is there such a thing as 'don't display avatars for my user'?

This would make it much easier for those of us who like to read MR at work ;)
 
I don't really mind losing the Ol' avatar, but it's easier for me to identify and remember a poster with Avatars. (Like putting a name on a face)

definitely. some people's user names are just not memorable. i'd also be cool if there was a setting that made you only be able to change your avatar once every 6 months or something.

I would like that......I often recognize people by there 'tar. :D People should not be aloud to have the same 'tar as other people for example I have seen the black and white apple in the mid a couple times now.....I also associated that with Dreadnought. But now other people are using it. :p
