Ditch the Dish for Apple TV? Laptops Only

I am thinking about dropping Dish and saving the $100/month that it costs us. I have a few questions that I need know before making the purchase. We only have laptops in the house (wife and I) and we both have our iTunes accounts. Her on her nano; me on the iPhone. How do the two accounts work w/ Atv? Can only one account be on the Atv at a time? Or would we have to resync for hers and then resync for mine? I understand the streaming capabilities (I think) so that means that I should have hers synced then stream mine when I am home, correct? Thanks for the help.

One machine will be synced other can be configured to stream. At home, mine is synced and my wife's is streamed. The only catch is the steam machine(s) need to be on. The synced machine can be off.
