Hi everyone,

My current setup is a MacBook Pro 13" and Mac Mini. Mac Mini is connected to an old iMac keyboard, mouse, and monitor. They are both out of date (Mac Mini is basically not supported anymore). I use both of them ALL THE TIME... but NOT at the same time.

I am considering just NOT having a Mac Mini at all anymore and selling both of them for whatever money I can get for them.... then getting a MacBook Pro 14" (and new Mac M1 keyboard) and using a docking station with it to replace the Mac Mini when I need/want a desktop setup.

I am wondering if anyone else has done this? This SEEMS like a good idea, but is there anything that I am not considering? Has anyone done this before - was it a good idea/bad idea?

I appreciate any info anyone can share!

In May I replaced my 2014 mini and 2016 rMB with an M1 air and 4K USB C monitor and haven’t looked back. Honestly just having a single machine makes for a much better experience whether for work or personal stuff.

In my case I’m trading in my Mac Mini and M1 MBA and upgrading to the 14”, although I’m leaning more towards the 16”. I’ll wait to test in store before I make my final decision.

Like @FaceChart2, I’ll dock the MBP for desk work but will also have the option of portability. I’m really excited to test these MBPs at my local Apple store next week. Also hoping that they have the model that I want and can purchase while in-store.
