Just purchased a Yamaha DVD S550. It's a DVD player that plays burnt DivX files. I'm new to this, how would I go about making a movie on a cd that is playable. I'd be using toast, I'm just curious as to what format? Mac & PC, ISO 9660? Anyone who knows, fill me in. Also, if I am going to throw a bunch of Divx movies onto a DVD, what format would I do that in?

Thanks!

DivX uses the AVI container (or extension). There are a number of guides, methods, and programs to convert DVD to DivX. I like to use the DVD Decrypter, DVD2AVI, VirtualDub method. It does take a while for the conversion. I stopped doing that after I bought a DVD writer. DVD to DivX takes 4 hours+ on a AMD Barton 2.2GHz + 512MB RAM. Original DVD to 4.7GB DVD takes 1 hour.

Go to doom9.net and check out the guides.

I already have the DivX files on my computer. I need to know what format to burn in. ie, mac and pc, iso 9600, etc...

also, since the dvd played does mpgs too, can i mix and match divx files with mpgs?

Data mode has many sub categories though. Which would be best? Best for CD, best for DVD?

So I could have 5 Avi's and then 3 Mpg's and It would all work?
