I see a lot of threads with people looking for rMini back covers, searching for ones with mic holes, etc. I thought I would share a video of my own heavily modified back cover

It's based on the $1.99 eBay case for the mini 1, which is an awesome back cover: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1533605/
At that price I always keep a few around, since you can basically waste 15 of them before you reach the price of many brand name cases, which I've tried and found to be horrible in comparison.
I modified the one I used for my mini 1 quite a bit, but decided to make a few new prototypes when I bought the rMini. I won't use a back case without a stylus holder and magnets to hold the Smart Cover in place on the back. I even made a prototype copy of the Adonit Jote case (http://adonit.net/jot/tote/), and while it was easy to make and works perfectly, I found it a rather stupidly overcomplicated solution to carrying a stylus.
The prototype case I like the best is the one seen in the video. It uses the entire magnetic flap of a third party knockoff Smart Cover to provide the magnetic gripping feature, and while this needed both cutouts for the camera, a lot of Sugru-ing to marge it with the case and added a bit of bulk, having it snap as securely to the back as it does is worth it over the mods I've done where the magnets are recessed in the case and not visible. The simple reason is that for me, using the rMini for teaching all day, I want both my stylus and Smart Cover to behave when not in use.
On top of that there's a hole for the mic that I just made with an awl, not even bothering to measure properly, and some elastic straps for the stylus.
Point of this is that if you're not satisfied with any case on the market, there's always the DIY way.
