Hi, really sorry if this is a duplicate post or noob question..

I have an old computer (PC) that I want to turn into a NAS, or more specifically a media server. I plan/hope to use FreeNAS as the OS. I have a few queries that their website seemed unable to answer.

If I was to use FreeNAS could i use it to stream to: XBOX 360, PS3 and all of my computers (Mac and PC)?
Am I able to just plug in an external HDD and share it, or would i have to copy all of the files across?
Will the server show up on my iTunes?
Am I able to set up the Bit Torrenting so that I can move files from folder to folder depending on it's file type?
Is it a reliable system?

Thanks in advance for you help,
T

Is there a better way to do it? I am really on a stupidly tight budget here, so can't afford a ready made solution.
Thanks,
T
