DIY ram upgrade on new 15" unibody

Hey Folks,

Just wondering how difficult is it to upgrade RAM on the unibody 15" MBP? It was a 5 minute job on my early '08 MBP, dunno if that's changed on the new ones with the built-in battery.

I am wondering the same thing. I'll checkiFixit later.. but with my student discount, it is $180 to go from 4GB to 8GB.. Idk if its worth it?!

I don't know if this is the right memory, but if it is, you can upgrade for $100.

That will definitely fit, and it's 1333 MHz, but I'd still like verification before pulling the trigger on the order.

don't pay apple for ram or hard drive upgrades. They over charge a ton for both and they're super easy to do on your own.

I've never had a MBP before so forgive me if this is obvious but does installing it yourself affect the warranty at all?

That's good to hear on the RAM replacement, will definitely be getting the stock spec and upgrading myself.

I thought I heard that DIY hardrive replacement on the unibody MBPs was a pretty complicated process and involved removing the logic board? Is this not the case?
