It's true, isn't it, that I can delete the .dmg file I downloaded for a particular application after I've extracted the app and it's up and running? I need to clean up my hard drive and I have several big .dmg's taking up space.

Yes... once you have opened the DMG and installed the app in the /Applications folder or wherever, you can eject the DMG and delete it.
