Ok, so I just upgraded to an airport extreme dual band (10/100/1000 ethernet) and next week I am getting my Netgear ReadyNas Duo.

I use AT&T's U-verse for my broadband. I have a 3800HGV-B RG router/wifi (only 10/100 ethernet) provided by AT&T. I went into the network summary and put the Airport Extreme into DMZplus mode. I then reset both the RG and the Airport and set up a new network where I share a public IP and enabled NAT Port Mapping.

So far so good. Internet works fine.

What I want to know is:

  • When I get the ReadyNAS, how can I be sure it is using the Airport Extreme's gigabit ethernet?
  • What other cool things am I able to do now that I have DMZplus enabled on my Airport?
  • What security measures should I take to protect my mac? (Firewall is on, what else?)

Thanks in advance.
