Can someone help on Apple watch and paired iPhone how these work/sync/mirror please?

I thought if I put on silent on my Apple watch (the bell icon with cross comes on, silent mode shows on), then this would be the same as my putting the mute switch on my iPhone - is this correct?

Tapping DND on my Apple watch I can see the moon symbol on my iPhone as well so I expect everything will be silenced apart from alarms?

Theatre mode I believe puts the Apple watch into silent mode AND didn't light up the screen, but what does this do on the iPhone side.

Thanks

Silent Mode silences all sounds coming from the watch. It'll still vibrate. It does nothing on the iPhone.

Do Not Disturb will silence the watch as well as stop all vibration notifications. Alarms are not effected and will still sound. This action is mirrored on the iPhone.

Theater Mode will silence the sounds as well as stop the watch from automatically lighting up. You have to tap the display, press a button, or turn the digital crown (on a Series 2) for the display to come on. It also does nothing on the phone.

So what's point of theatre mode if the iPhone would still ring etc in a cinema?

To provide one button press that will silence the watch as well as stop the screen from lighting up. Just as without an Apple Watch or without Theater Mode before it was available, you are still responsible for silencing your iPhone independently.

Ah ok thanks. I just presumed it would work together as such. To me the point of the watch if I silence then do the same on the iPhone.

To have a theatre mode on the watch, great, but then someone rings you and your iPhone, hidden in your pocket, blares out an embarrassing tune ha ha!

Why would these not work together? You sit down in cinema, put on theatre mode on watch, which is quieter fort notifications anyway, to disable the watch 2" screen, but then the iPhone blasts out? Strange decision to me no?

So basically need to put on mute on iPhone and then silent or theatre mode on watch separately. Or if want both then out on DND which does watch and iPhone.

Whenever I'm at the theater, I just automatically tap both theater mode & do not disturb on the watch.......just an easier solution for me, lol.
