DND Whilst driving - Only when using Apple Maps ?

Good morning.

Does this great feature only work when phone open & running Apple Maps/Navigation, or does it still work if the phone is just cradled & not running anything (still detecting movement) , or running another sat Nav like Tom Tom ?

It works by knowing you are connected to the Bluetooth in a car (the car ID's as a car) and it detects when you are moving. Not sure yet how it works with Maps but likely will test it in the future.
