dns doesn't work for xbox live

so my ip is working with the following:

ip address: 192.168.2.2
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.2.1

i typed dig into terminal and got 24.178.80.36 for server,
but that didn't work in dns...so i don't know what to do next.
any suggestions?
