I am interested in installing a pair of outdoor speakers at my house and want to connect them to my network using AirPlay 2, but amazingly, I can’t seem to find anybody who makes outdoor speakers with built-in AirPlay 2. This leads me to my question(s)...

Is anybody aware of any AirPlay 2 outdoor speakers?

Or, alternatively, is anybody aware of a reasonably priced 2-channel amplifier with AirPlay 2? All the ones I find seem to be on the order of $500, which seems outrageous to me for what is basically a 2-channel amplifier with Wi-Fi.

Or, finally, is anybody aware of a dual zone AV Receiver that has true dual zone AirPlay 2 (i.e. I can AirPlay something to Zone 2 with the main zone turned off, or I can AirPlay something to Zone 2 without interfering with what is playing on the main zone)? I have read that a lot of AV Receivers with dual zones don’t have full AirPlay support for the second zone.

For the low end budget, I use used Airport Express (the one that looks like a small, white Apple TV, not the one that looks like a MagSafe power supply) and an amp (also used).

If you are mounting them in a protected area, you can probably get away with a humidity rated speaker like a Sonos one - they aren't rated for outdoors, but people have had good luck with them outside, provided they don't get direct exposure to rain.

Another option is waterproof a portable speaker.

Similar to jljue, our outdoor speakers are powered by an old amp connected to an old airport express.

Get a few HomePod’s. That’s what I use. One on the back deck, the other by the pool. Just plug ‘em in and they work. No tethering, no batteries. Siri is incredible when you’re in the water and want to flip the playlist.
