Do all wireless chargers require precise placement?

i got the apple exclusive belkin, and it never charges the first time I place it down. I have to lift and reposition it.

I got the cheaper version and it’s the same thing. Place it on, nothing. Reposition, then it starts charging.

Am I missing something? They seem to work fine in store. Is it because I’m using the leather case?

Yes and no. Depends on the charger. I have the Samsung one that can be flat or have as a stand and I honestly just lay it on with no issues really
