I've for the most part always been an Apple guy, and I have no idea about what's out there in regards to Android Wear and the features it offers to complete with Apple Watch, and I've been wondering lately, is it a health competition or is Apple Watch a no contest?

Hell no, it's a no contest. A bit sad though, I'm not an Android guy by any mean, but competition is good for innovation.

Android absolutely does compete against the Apple Watch, especially given that they offer a round variant in some respects, but the difference is, it’s not the competition between ‘smart watches’, it’s because iOS is so dominant, and that’s what the Apple watch relies on solely. That is what Android can’t compete with, but in terms of actual producing a decent watch, the Samsung Galaxy Gear series is a perfect example of great hardware, but sub-par software.

iOS is so dominant? In which world? Android has a marketshare of more than 80%. Google have a huge customer base to push wearOS, but they don't believe in the platform and the development of wearOS is stagnant. Even android fanboys complain about that!

WearOS app selection is ridiculous, they lag like hell (all of them)... not even Google believe in the platform. They didn't even released a gmail app. wearOS vs watchOS is a no contest in favour of watchOS, let's see what fitbit acquisition means for Google... as I said it's unfortunate because competition is good for the whole category... but at current state it's not even in the same league.
