Do Apple News "dislikes" work?

I'm starting to wonder if I have the wrong impression about the "dislike" feature in Apple News. I swipe/select Dislike when I'd prefer to NOT see more of those type of stories in a favorite channel. However, it seems to do nothing. I've seen no reduction in those type of stories.
