considering heading into Liverpool or Manchester today and wanted to pick one up. Are they online only so far?

If you’re going in anyway can’t hurt to go in and ask - The Apple stores are the first to receive stock so it’s possible they will have set them up for sale - but they might have them and still be inventorying/ setting up the display units so not be selling them yet.

Most stores should have them as long as they are the base or non-configured units.

YOu can also check online if they are available and how many are in stock...

My local stoe has the base model of 15 in with 16 gb of memory in stock. THey have some 13 inch too but I did not ask as I am only interested in 15 inch.

Not necessarily, my store has plenty, but none showing on the website. They said that is common.

I've been told in the past that they keep store stock separate from stock on the website so that they have merchandise available for people shopping in the store.

You can always go to the website and pick out the machine and then check to see if it's available in store... you have to use the BUY option, but you can check availability before actually buying. Typically, all of the stock configs should be available for in-store pickup by now... in my experience, the CTO/BTO options ar never available for in-store pickup but must be ordered.

Every time I am about to head to the store for something I order and pay online so I all I have to do is show the order email, get my stuff and leave. It must be tied-in with shop stock to be available for pick up that day at that store.

I got my 2018 MacBook Pro by ordering online also, but when I got an iPad one year I wanted space gray, but only silver was available online. When I got to the store they had space gray available and the sales person told me they had separate stock for the store and the website. It makes sense that they would want to keep some stock available for walk-ins to keep people coming to the stores, but maybe I got bad information that day.
