Ok, As many of you know i've tried to get an iPhone today. Unsuccessful.

If I walk into a Apple Store on Monday, wanting to buy iPhone 3G, and agree to sign a new 18 month contract,
am I treated as a new customer to O2?

Yeah you will be treated as a new customer

I had the same idea. im an existing 02 customer and desperate for the white iphone which they have in stock at my local apple store (where only NEW customers can purchase). i rang 02 asking if i took a new contract would they be able to transfer my existing 02 number over to the new iphone account. the answer was initially yes but after the lady conferred with someone else i was told a definate no. I would have to wait till the white comes out "at least 2 or 3 weeks" to upgrade.

Best bet is to try a Carphone Warehouse store - was funny this morning in Cambridge - 60 odd people queuing outside the O2 store here - while 3 doors away the CPW store had just 2 people in it so I walked past the queue, into CPW and got the new phone straight away - seems the people queuing forgot CPW can do upgrades as well as new customers to O2.

It's not so much that they forgot, it's that they'd be on contract with Carphone Warehouse, plus CW had less stock than even O2 generally.
