I've been searching Black Friday deals to see if anyone has a deal going on. A lot of other Apple products are discounted but surprised to see that TV isn't or at least not yet.

Yeah I am waiting to see what Black Friday deals are put out for Apple tv 4k but not seeing anything so far. Annoying having to pay the same price on a 2 year old device. Apple should reduce the cost some on this item.

Yes correct! Especially with bringing out TV+ you would think they would try too reach a broader audience. The device while still good is two years old already and still the same price.

I checked with 2 att stores today. Both told me theyve been out for a while and that it was a liquidation...convinced that a new model was coming out. But if that were true why are they full price everywhere else lol

They have! For people who aren't interested in the Apple ecosystem or features or performance, there's the Apple TV+ on smart TVs.

For anyone who demands performance, reliability and top quality - there's the Apple TV 4K.

Don't expect it to come down in price. Apple does not drop its prices just because a new model is rumoured - the iPhone X or XS did not have a price reduction one month before the 11 Pro etc.

Look at it another way - it'll give outstanding performance and reliability for at least the next five years with constant tvOS updates etc. No Smart TV platform or Fire stick or Chromecast will ever do that.

My advice, save save save for something that you really want and enjoy every second of it. If you worry about pricing etc, then you become a slave to the product!

If you have an Apple Store, Apple's usual "discounts" at the holiday season are given in Apple Gift Cards. I bought a Apple TV 4K last Black Friday, and got a $25 gift card.

Some third party retailers (ie. Target, Best Buy) will occasionally discount Apple TV models. I would be very surprised if the ATV was not put on sale for Black Friday for at least one retailer.

Maybe a bit off the subject, but does anyone know if LG will update their previous 4K LG sets to include an app for Apple TV? My LG does have an app for NetFlix and Amazon Prime, both of which support 4K.

I do have the latest Apple TV unit as well, but it's a slight pain to open on a different input verses quickly loading the NetFlix and Amazon Prime apps.

I heard 2019 sets only.

Apple said Apple TV app is being developed for LG, Sony, Vizio TVs. Apple mentioned end of 2019 availability. But I wouldn't be surprised if the date slips by a month or two.

For LG, the app will probably require webOS 4.5 on 2019 models, just like AirPlay 2 and HomeKit.

Just saw this...

Samsung was one of the first TV manufacturers to add support for the Apple TV app — alongside AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. LG and Vizio have also pledged their support. It’s not yet clear whether Apple TV+ will also be available on LG and Vizio sets, but it’s likely you’ll be able to enjoy wherever the Apple TV app is available.

So, we'll see. My LG 4K is about 2 years old, so I'm not expecting much...

There was an earlier post where a spokesman implied that it might happen. LG then updated to say that they didn't have any current plans.

Only 2019 models. Don't expect anything from a Smart TV platform. In all fairness, these platforms should be ignored. They are a basic sales ploy only.

If you want apps of your choice and updates and control, then buy a streaming box. This has been the recommendation from day one of Smart TVs and 7+ years on, the story is no different. Smart TVs have not evolved in this digital age. Leave smart platforms to the ultimate software development guys - Apple!
