Do different iDevices offer different Airplay experiences

My question is whether or not different iDevices offer different Airplay experiences in terms of image/video quality? I use an iPod Touch 4 gen for airplay and was wondering if an iPad offers a better experience.

Nope, not that I have seen; other than airplay mirroring which is restricted to newer devices.
