Everything is working fine, I'm just curious how OS X works. Usually on Windows, if you disconnect suddenly during updates, then resume the download, the file may be incomplete or corrupted in some way. Then they are installed, then somewhere along the line something crashes. Is this possible with OS X?

I accidently disconnected the ethernet forgettign I was updating, then the system froze a little bit. I closed the update window, plugged in the ethernet, then resumed the download.

Is multitasking a normal thing for OS X? Like encoding something while doing something else in the background? My Windows machine would crash for sure.

I've never had an update get corrupted from being interrupted while downloading. While INSTALLING might be a different issue.

And yes, OS X is designed to be an excellent multi-tasking OS. I've personally encoded H.264 video while browsing the web, listening to music, downloading torrents, and various other sundry tasks with no problem.
