Do edits on books inserted into iBooks get preserved in case of changing iTunes?

I have some books that I have not purchased from iBooks, (I downloaded them from free ePub sites like archive dot org) that I put in iBooks via Dropbox app. I made some highlights in those books.

I am going to sync my iPhone with a new iTunes, which probably means that all music, voice memo, and book data is going to be wiped out. (Or does it? I’m not even sure)

So in order to prevent the loss of said files (including books), I exported them using an app called DeTune.

I wonder if the exported books contain the highlights or just the bare ePub files. Do they?

If I import it back (after the syncing with the new iTunes), will it still retain the highlights that I made?
