I dropped my G4 powerbook from about 18" onto carpet a few months ago. The screen had a crack in the corner which continued to grow until I could no longer see anything. I took it to my local Mac dealer and he said everything was fine internally, I just needed a new screen.

$1,000 later, I had a brand new screen that quickly began to display flickering lines about every other day (depending on how my computer is positioned). When I hook up to my external monitor, I can see everything just fine. I took it back to the dealer several times and he tells me the screen is fine and that the video card is likely damaged and cannot be fixed. Basically, he said I'm SOL. His "solution" was to sell my Mac on ebay before it gets too bad and no one will know (which I would never do).

I'm confused. If my mac works on the external monitor, wouldn't it be my screen or screen connection that's actually bad and not the internal components??? I'm thinking about taking it to another mac dealer that can actually help. This guy just wants to make a buck but does not care about customer satisfaction.

If anyone has any input, I'd really appreciate it! I really don't want to buy another Mac. This one is only a little over a year old.

Thanks in advance!
