iPad Do I have a virus?

First of all, can iPads get viruses?
I went on a website, and it loaded and someone appeared. it said "live video chat" or something. A tissue was covering the camera so no face was shown. But I'm still freaked out. My safari is on private mode. I downloaded McAfee Security. It says my photos are infected. UGH! What do I do!? Can someone even see through my camera, or listen through my microphone!? PLEASE HELP!?

You having a virus is highly unlikely. Nobody can see or hear you through your camera/microphone unless you FaceTime or use an app that can do it. The webcam thing was probably a pop-up. Make sure you have "Pop-Ups" disabled through Settings.

It wasn't a pop-up. It was a website. I heard loud music in the background and they moved. I had my camera settings turned on for safari, are you sure. Also do you know anything about me photo problem?
 
Had something similar happen once. You aren't being hacked, it's just a rouse to make you panic and touch something that would lead to potential fraud.

Haven't heard of iPads getting viruses before? Nothing is impossible really but it doesn't seem at all likely.
 
Your fine. Sounds like you ended up on a porno web cam site. By the way delete any anit virus apps as they don't do anything and are nothing more then ways to get money out of scared people like you. Remember iPads don't get viruses. Apple has even pulled most of the anit virus apps since they don't do anything and most are scams.

NOT ALL Anti virus apps are crap and scams.


If you install and keep to very very reliable Anti Virus apps like Avast, Avira, Lookout then you will be fine!
 
You are right to be worried. You should be fine as long as you don't tap on any suspicious links. While iOS is generally safer than Android and Windows, there are some pretty scary malware attacks that have been popping up lately. Most of these attacks are mostly social engineering, so as long as you don't click/tap on anything suspicious you may never see anything bad.

The iOS Masque Attack is a pretty good example of iOS being exploited hard, not sure if the recent 8.3 update fixed that though.

As for the web cam website, it's common for porn websites to have ads littered all over the place and they often will make a new tab in Safari. And sometimes will take you to a website that does a great job copying iTunes so you can "install" a porn app. You might want to consider using a safer website/app like Tumblr for your porn.

And even if you weren't viewing porn, you should consider finding a native app where ads won't redirect you or consider blocking ads, since sometimes, I've found that it can be a tad easy to tap an ad.

This sounds like nothing more than a few pop-ups.
I've had them Girls on cams and all they want is for you to click and sign up.
Yes you can hear everything, footsteps, a glass etc. these ads are clever these days.

Now all we got now is a ton of paranoid idevice users running off and buying protection.

You sure your not a Agent of the system ? because if you are, It's worked on a few people if i read right lol.

The only other way things like you mention can be done is if you have a jail broken device.
