My friend wrote me this:

In any program (safari, excel, powerpoint
etc. it will scroll down uncontrollably and sometimes
when trying to type (for example in a search engine or
a password to log in) it will type " 9.ol/ or
something similar (but only using those particular
characters). Also, sometimes it will just go in and
out of the "window pane view" when I have multiple
windows opened. It does all of this uncontrollably
and/or at the same time. I remember that you told me
to download all the security updates, I did this and
was still having problems after. That was yesterday,
and now today it is fine! What does that mean? You
told me that viruses for MAC are rare, but could this
be a virus? One more thing, I noticed that it started
after I downloaded a large powerpoint file from
someone elses USB. Could this file have had a virus?

Rather unlikely. My computer does this occasionally when I'm using Safari...and then I realize that I have my elbow on the spacebar. Most likely scenario is that his keys are geting stuck, and he/she needs to clean their keyboard.

Its not that there aren't many viruses for macs (not MACS btw), its that there are none...

Also you don't need to press 'enter' every few words...

If you're on laptop ... make sure you haven't bumped the Num-Lock key.
That'll turn on your embedded numberpad and some keyboard scrolling options.

He said that it happens randomly and that it types the same pattern all the time. Here is a screentshot

What was the point in removing the address in the picture when you left one in the titlebar?

BTW, my vote is for a corrupted Keychain/Safari.

btw, I love the Torrent app followed by Alias and Nacho Libre. Both could possibly be legit, but, I'm a pessimist. call the RIAA! (or whoever the hell does tv and movies)

So the characters include "9", "o", "l" and "."... hmmm...

My question would be, when did he drop a book on his keyboard?

That is a sign of impact damage on a keyboard, and the only way to fix it is to have it replaced. If it is intermittent and he can live with it for a while, then it is time to start saving up those pennies.

Your right, they form a line down the keyboard! Maybe it was liquid damage, a stream from the top down messing up the circuits?

if it is the keychain app safari thing, how would I go about wiping it or fixing it?
