Hi, I want to sell my phone, and was wondering if the proper thing to do is wipe my phone, activate it, and THEN remove the SIM card. Or do I only have to wipe it and remove the SIM card and not worry about activation?

Thanks a ton!

Wipe it. Once complete pull the plug and remove the simcard. Job done.

Not trying to change the direction of this thread but.... The iPhone is the first phone I've owned with a SIM card so forgive me if this sounds like a dumb question.

I'm going to sell my 3G once I receive the 4. Do you remove the SIM card before selling? Why?

Remove the SIM card. On other phones some contact info is stored on the SIM, on the iPhone your phone number is.

Apparently your data stays on there (and some stuff to identify your phone). What i'm curious about is why some people activate the phone before selling...any risk of your personal data getting on the phone like that?
