Do I have to be registered to install DP7?

Only developers have access to the DP7 install (full version) file. If you downloaded DP 7 and it is 1 GB or less in size, you don't have the full version. The smaller size file is meant to be installed as an update to DP 1-6.
I'm planning on doing PB2 anyways, but could I, in theory, install the first dev preview and do the updates?
You can. There is a known glitch with DP1, in regards to updating properly to the subsequent releases. I didn't have a problem when I first installed DP on a new partition. The updates would show in MAS. However, when I started over recently(fresh - wiped drive) with a single partition, I couldn't get passed DP1, as it kept saying part of the update could not be installed. I tried numerous times using the same DP 1 that had worked to begin with. After messing with it all day yesterday, I made a USB install for PB and everything went fine.
