Do I have to buy from AT&T store? (Corporate FAN)

I've been on AT&T for a long time, associated with my corporate FAN for the discounts.

Last time, I upgraded my blackberry to an iPhone4. I went to an apple store where I was informed that they couldn't handle my account. So I had to purchase from an AT&T store.

It's been a number of years since then. Does anyone know if this is still the case? Do I still have to go to an AT&T store to buy a 5S? Been reading these horror stories about bad AT&T stores -- plus MacMall has a small discount, and have always had exemplary service in Apple Stores, so either of those would more preferred for me.

I have a FAN associated with my account and purchased the 5 last year via Apple and 5s this year via Best Buy(not recommended) and had no issue purchasing the phone.

I have a business account and still have to purchase through AT&T. Try doing an upgrade on Apples website and it will tell you.

Business account does not equal FAN account.

OP - You can buy your phone wherever you'd like.
