do i have to restore then upgrade to 5.0?

well now that traffic is better on the severs im looking to update 5.0 from a jailbroken 4.2 do i have to restore to stock 4.2 then upgrade to 5.0 or can i just update it from a jailbroken 4.2 to stock 5.0?
