I'm new to jailbreaking and iPhones so this may be dumb.

I bought a iPhone 4s when it came out and jailbroke it under iOS 5.01 or whatever.

Now I see a jailbreak is available for 5.1.1. Do I need to unjailbreak first and upgrade?

If so how?

The best way is Restore as NEW & don't use backups then JB your fresh 5.1.1 w/ Absinthe 2.0.1

Make sure to restore through itunes and not the OTA software update in in the settings app. Jailbroken phones cannot be updated in this manner.

You will have to restore to the 9B206 ios 5.1.1 build instead of the one that's apple putting out now.
If you restore to the new 5.1.1 (9B208) Absinthe wont recognize the built and wont JB it.

How do I get the old 5.1.1?
