Do I have to update my iPhone 16Pro to IOS26 before migrating to my new iPhone17 device?

Can I go directly from IOS 18.6.2 to migrating to IOS 26 on my new iPhone 17? I remember being. told you can always go from a lower number IOS to a higher one.

Actually, I've decided to Set Up as New to remove all the flotsam and jetsam that's accumulated...

Thanks! I setup as new years ago and at that time vowed never again lol. I am really curious about this as my phone is stable and unsure how imy phone will react to IOs26. There isnt really time to debug it before migrating tomorrow.

Thanks it just seems a little less of a problem given the issues with IOS26. My phone is stable at this time. I dont know how it will react to IOS26.
