iPad Do I have to use evasi0n from the computer my iPad is synced to?

My desktop, which is the computer that my iPad is synced to, is still on 10.6.8. I've updated my iPad to 7.0.6, backed it up, etc etc etc. But evasi0n won't run on 10.6.

Can I now use my laptop, which is on Mavericks, to do the actual jailbreaking, or is this asking for trouble? I have no idea if evasi0n communicates with iTunes in any way, etc while doing the jailbreaking.

No, it can be run on any supported computer to jailbreak any supported device. iTunes must be installed and updated to the latest version.
