I'm about to set up my newly-acquired-from-the-US Time Capsule, and noticed a fairly stark warning in the instruction booklet...

Important: Use only the power cord that came with you Time Capsule

Do I need to worry about this or can I use any standard "figure 8" cable ?

I ask as I don't live in the States (currently in Europe, then back to UK) and would rather not have to run it via a bulky plug adaptor.

Might be best to check the power requirements - normally Apple stuff is 100-240V 50-60Hz AC but maybe TimeCapsule is different and US model is 110V 60Hz - in which case you will "blow it apart" with 230V (hence the warning).

If it is the normal 100-240V 50-60Hz AC then any figure of 8 plug will be fine....

According to the specs:

Electrical:
Line voltage: 100-240V AC
Frequency: 50Hz to 60Hz, single phase
Maximum continuous power: 30W

You should be ok.

Cool, thanks for the replies - I pretty much thought it would be okay, but was curious about the warning :D
