I want to connect my mac to my HDTV via HDMI. Now I have a DVI socket a mini one, but my friend says I need an adaptor of some sort as well as a cable. So here are my questions.

1. Do I need said adaptor or can I just buy a DVI to HDMI cable and connect directly to my TV?
2. Does it have to be a specific cable for mac or can I buy any HDMI to DVI cable?

PLease answer if you can as I have one hour to order for delivery tomorrow!!

Thanks!

Don't get a Apple Cable, they are way overpriced, I bought a Dynex mini-dvi to vga adapter for $15.99, while the apple one was priced @ $52.99!!

I was actually referring to the Apple adapter. I can't imagine who would change you $53 for that. I mean, sure Apple accessories are overpriced junk, but...
