Do i Need a New Fan?

i can't watch a movie without it overheating and powering down. do i need a new fan or is there a way to fix my existing fan? thanks for any help.

Yeah, you need to get that fixed. Call Apple or take it to an Apple store.

my macbook is no longer under warranty and i live very far from an apple store. so i would probably just replace it myself. but do i just need a fan or something else as well? i've seen on eBay the fan alone and some also include a heatsink. i have no clue what that is.. which one should i get?

You probably need just the fan, but there is no way for me to be sure (without actually touching the MB).

the first fan is for a Core Duo or Core 2 Duo MacBook

the second is for the Unibody MacBook - you don't have that model because it would be still under warranty !

Go to Apple Menu > about this Mac >more info and read off the MacBook model identifier - second line down

If it is 1,1 or 2,1 you need the first one (part no 922-7372)

if it is a 3,1 or 4,1 MacBook you need the santa Rosa model (922-8273)

The fans have different connectors so if you get the wrong one then it will be impossible to get it working....

Overheating problem!

i have a macbook and recently it makes this crazy sound like its about to fly away, but there is no problem with it everything is fine it doesn't shut down or skip any of my songs it just makes this annoying sound and its so embarrassing during class!
help plz!!
