Do I need a new Macbook charger?

My charger has been working fine up until today; for some reason, it only charges when it wants to. I have to get the wire in a specific position for the light to turn green/orange. When I do get it in a position where it wants to work, it does charge like normally; I'm not sure if the charger is broken, on the verge of being broken, or if this is something that I can fix (not wanting to spend $80 on a new charger if it's not required) - any ideas? :confused:

It does sound like you have a short somewhere. My guess is a new charger is going to be the solution.
