Im set to get the iphone 5 soon but im so tempted to get the ipod touch too. Do you guys think that's stupid? The iPhone 5 does have all the features of the itouch and more...

Cheers

There are people out there that have both iPhone and iPod touch for battery and storage reasons.

It sure seems like a waste of money. I wouldn't do it but I have more sense than money.

Personally no reason for me. It's either iPhone 5 only or some cheap smartphone + iPod touch 5 combo. On the other hand I've just sold my iPhone 4S, only because it drained battery too fast when used frequently for phone calls and gaming and internet browsing. I had to charge it 2-3 times daily, which was insane that's how fast it drained. For this reason I'm not planning to buy an iPhone 5, despite it's beautiful. Instead I'm going to get Samsung Galay S3 mini just for phone calls, sms and gps functionality + iPod touch 5 for everything else, which is internet browsing, gaming and music. The best part? I'm going to get both of these devices for the price of iPhone 5. Then again, if the iPhone 5 could last all day on a really heavy use, then I'd probably get one. At the end of a day it really depends on how you use the device. If you use iPhone moderately mostly for GSM functionality then it's probably the best option for you but if you wanna do everything and very frequently on it then I'd think twice.

I bought an iPhone 5 64 GB on launch day, and I have an iPod touch 5th gen 64 GB on order. I had most of the money from returning a nexus 7 tablet. I use my iPhone so much throughout the day, I have to charge it usually once in the middle of the day. I also download so many tv shows and movies and music from iTunes I can store a lot of stuff on my pod touch for long trips and still have my phone battery. I can also use my ipod around the house for games, leaving my iPhone battery charged for when I go to work later.

Yes. The iPhone is extremely expensive and simply does everything that an iPod touch does, but way better and with more options.
BUT, I understand wanting to buy the iPod touch, as it is an incredible device as well. What you could do is to buy the red iPod touch (as well as the iPhone), play with it for a couple of months, then give it as a gift to a dear member of your family/friends. That way, you'll give to charity (joinred.com), enjoy playing with a new Apple product and will make a family member/friend very happy. :)

What Omgitsdesmond said. I have both and the iPod battery life is one good reason to have them. In my case both were given as gifts. Were I to buy them for myself I'd probably go with just the iPhone.

I have an iTouch 5G but it's for my hubby.
My preference is the iPhone5 and iPod Nano.
That's me..

If you have Target stores in your area, buy an iPod from there. You have almost a month to return it if you find you dont use it enough.

If it were me, I would not need both.

i plan to have both...already have the touch (red 64gb) and plan to buy the iphone5 (black, 32 or 64gb) within the week as i'm due for renewal in my contract...plus they gave me a hundred bucks to offset the cost of the handset further...

I'd pick up a nano or shuffle for a music/video player if you wanted one...battery life will on these will be better and help you keep your phone for calling or otherwise staying connected for more important tasks on your iPhone:p
