I have an iPhone4s which is perfectly for gaming and many other things but i just don't know whether i still need an iPod touch or not when i have an iPhone?

Most likely, no. The iPhone can do everything the iPod Touch can do and it can usually do it better as well.

If you want it for music, I'd get a 5th or 6th gen Nano to carry with you.

If you want to play games, I'd get an extended battery pack case for your iPhone as smart-phones already barely last a full day weather it be an iPhone or most android phones.

My wants always exceed my needs. As a previous poster said battery life could be an issue but one that could be overcome by less expensive means.

Sure why not. My iPod touch white 64GB cost me £300 compared to a 16GB iPhone 4S. But it's up to you really ^_^

I happen to own both : I got the IPT from my mom who didn't use it, so I jailbroke it and installed plenty of games and apps.
I like it better than my iPhone because it's light and sexy... but it's the exact same device, and we don't need both. :)

If you want a Apple product to mess around with (i.e jailbreaking, using the touch solely for apps/movies etc)
then go ahead. It's your money.
