I carry my MBP in a laptop backpack as well as a sleeve. It is my main computer and I like it protected from shocks.

I have both a full-sized carrying bag as well as a neoprene sleeve for my MacBook Pro and use both at the same time to provide ample protection.

I use both a hard case and a sleeve when I travel.

Overkill? Perhaps. But peace of mind is priceless.
