Do I need to buy windows to use bootcamp?

The main reason that boot camp exists is to help you install Windows on your Mac.
So, yes, you need to own copy of Windows, or you could purchase a license that allows you to download a Windows iso.
Or, if you already have a copy of Windows, and a license that you can transfer to another computer, that will work, too!
