Hello folks,

I'm running Windows on my iMac with Parallels, do I have to install a bloody antivirus as it is suggesting to me when I run Windows? And do I have to update Windows too as I would if it were on a PC? Is it necessary?

Thank you.

I just used an application MS provided in Windows 8.

And made a backup copy of the virtual machine. If it got infected I'd just delete the machine and start again with the backup.

You should treat your Windows Virtual Machine in Parallels just like you would any Windows install on a PC

I don't have any 3rd party AV installed on my VM, I just have my Windows installation set to automatically install updates, including Windows Defender

Just install Microsoft own free antivirus. And yes you have to keep it updated as you would any other software. Just have it autoupdate.

And you have to keep parallells updated and so on pursued ad absurdum.

Microsoft Defender continues to rate down near the bottom of the barrel on anti-virus tests. I'd not take a chance. I'd recommend kaspersky or Avast.
