Hello,

I'm wondering if it's necessary to keep the .dmg after installing the software? I tend to keep them all but it seems to me that I don't necessarily want to reinstall from the .dmg considering how software tends to be constantly upgraded. Or is it best to keep them in the event of a software problem, and then check for updates? :)

I sometimes copy the DMG to an external hard drive for programs that I need. Im not to sure why I do as I have a Time Machine backup making sure I have a continually updating backup of applications.

That's what I do. Best? Not really, just potentially most convenient. If there's a need to reinstall the same version, I don't have to download it again.

Usefull stuff

Many .dmg's include an un-installer and documentation, you may want to save a copy of these for future use.
