Resolved Do I need to replace my battery?

I have a jailbroken iphone 3GS. Today I was using it and it ran out of batteries. So I think to myself, no problem, I can just plug it in. And I do. The computer does not recognize my USB and doesn't make that little sound. The iphone makes that little symbol with the electricity and the plug. I borrow my dad's charger. No luck. Try rebooting my computer. Then I try a hard reset and nothing seems to work. After about 4 hours of googling I realize that maybe I should just buy a new battery. Do you think that would work? Please don't answer if you have no clue.

Also my battery is about 18 months old. Warranty is long gone. iOS 5.

The iPhone can take a few minutes to properly power on if the battery is really drained. Did you give it a few minutes?
